Fastest elected pope - Julius II (1443-1513) was elected pope on the first ballot on 21 Oct 1503.  His name is closely linked with artists such as Michelangelo and Raphael, and it was Raphael who painted this portrait of him as a pensive old man that hangs in the Uffizi gallery in Florence, Italy.  (Photo:  Picture Point)
